TAMARILLO

Characteristics and History:

           
Tamarillo (Tree Tomato) grows in small trees, is eggwise oval a red fruit with thin cover. Generally 2- 8 cm long. The fruit is very sensitive against frost, especially in the riping phase. Mostly grows in shady placed , the trees are shorter than 6 meters. It is inevitable for the fruit to be protected from cold and hard winds to get a healthy , quality riped fruit.

Have different types like, Ecuadorian Orange, Goldmine, Inca Gold, Oratia Red, Rothamer, Ruby Red, Solid Gold, and Yellow .

Cultivation Locations:

Middle and South America, Asian countries and Kenya. Also grows in our country

Uses:

It prevents the oxidation of fats by the vitamin E it contains. Has memory losses preventing effect. Vital for eye health

Protects the body against air pollution and smoke by Beta Caratone.

How and Where to Use?

Peel the cover and you nay enjoy the pulp and seeds. You may use it in desserts, frit salads, ice crams or cook its jam.

Storing Conditions:

Should be kept ,in 8 ºC , %70 humidity

Nutrition Facts:

Rich for Beta Ceratone, Calcium and Potassium
